Good question.
I do not think. It is sad if a human's best friend is a dog.
I also do not like the people who talk to the dog as to a human. I had a neighbour (where I lived 1 year ago). She was an idiot. She said to everybody that her dog was more clever than the people. ANd this dog worths more than the children in the street. All this little dog knew was: she was able to bark, and frisk up to everybody. Everybody hated (hate now) this woman.
We had a rottweiler a few years ago. We loved him. So I can love the dogs, but human's best friend must be another human.

Dogs has earned their reputation of being the best friend of man because of their loyalty. I guess dogs really deserve to be man's bestfriend indeed.

For me dog is really man's bestfriend and I am not saying this because of the quote. Based on my experience, I remember our dog saved our drowning cat. We have two dogs, the other one who saved the cat and the other one was barking calling for help. I think they do care also for other house pets.
