Anyone ever used SLIT for allergies?

I just started therapy with SLIT (sublingual drops) for my allergies and I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with them.
I had considered shots but since I work all the hours that the shots are administered and I don't own a car, I would lose considerable amounts of work time taking cabs back and forth to get it done. So the doctor recommeneded SLIT. The downside is that my insurance doesn't cover, but even with paying for the drops it should be cheaper than missing that much work.
I've read a few studies online about the effectiveness of SLIT, and I'm impressed so far, but I haven't actually talked to another person who has used it.

I have an allergy to nuts (not peanuts, just all other nuts). I've never heard of SLIT (PHEw - good thing i caught that typo - the "i" and the "u" are awfully close together on the keyboard!).
Several people tell me I should get an epi pen - I haven't gotten one because I figured it was too expensive to replace every three months if I don't use it. Now, I am sure our insurance would cover it, but still haven't gotten one. I guess I've gotten used to being VERY careful about what I eat.
