I am just annoyed right now. Annoyed with the way these companies keep changing programs for kids. Or they remake ones which did well at one point. Take in point, Strawberry Shortcake - not only did they make her look like some stuck up teenager on a power trip, she is just so annoying now! Whatever happened to her being a little kid, enjoying Strawberry land? Or the Big Comfy Couch - I LOVED the original actress they had who played Loonette. So did my kids when they were little (well two of them anyways ) now they have this actress who is SO bloody annoying, its unreal! I mean please PLEASE leave the tv shows the way they should be left!! They even changed ALF's voice for crying out loud, when they re-released his TV show. ARGH. Just leave the good old shows alone. If they don't fit in todays society, just leave them in the TV vaults!

I know just what you are talking about. The toys that our children had were great. Well made and simple. We are now shopping for our Grandchildren and it is hard to find anything simple. Everything takes batteries and just not what we want. What ever happened to the simple toys? I think that the simple toys helped kids with their creative side but now the toys dont do that. Kids need to learn how to be creative and use their imagination. Dont even get me started on those terrible cartoons! I was amazed and irritated at the amount of violence on the cartoons. I am a firm believer that simple is still best.

I'm glad somebody else is ticked off about this! I've been getting increasingly annoyed over the past couple years at the quality of children's tv shows. I remember loving certain ones when I was little, but, as you've pointed out, some of those have been "updated" for today's kids...who would be just as happy watching the old versions (but then it's all about money, isn't it?). There are a few new shows that I think are all right, but most...augh. I feel bad for kids who are missing out on the classics. I agree, they should be left well enough alone.

Thank you for agreeing with me! I think the classics should be left alone, same with music

I agree completely. I miss all those old cartoons, I wish they were still on. Just run the old ones for the new generation again. The teachings are still good today. Why try to re-invent a classic. I miss Rainbow Bright. Strawberry shortcake was my next to favorite. I guess this new image of her is what they see girls being today. Sad isn't it.

I know exactly what you mean, and I wish it was only a problem for television shows, but it's much worse than that. Movies, music, all of them today are just trying to re-make classics, and hope they can get a slightly bigger chunk of chains with the advanced technology they have to make the things "better" or more up to date. There are things that you simply can not out do, so why try to do it? If they want to show older cartoons, just show the originals! They were good enough for us growing up, why should they have to be changed now? And then they wonder why kids aren't the same as they used to be... well look at some of the newer crap that is made. I just find it all astonishing, not to mention utterly annoying. Give me the classics any day, the original is always better than the remake, no matter what genre one may be talking about. Speaking of kids tv shows though, do you remember TGIF, on the ABC channel? Used to have a few hours every friday night of more kid based shows, and now they just play the most annoying stuff I've seen on Friday nights. *Sigh* Oh well, other than protesting until we turn blue in the face, and not having any impact what so ever- there's nothing else we can really do about it. Thank goodness for channels like BoomerRang that do play the classics un-messed with.

OH I wish we had channels like that out here. Yup all we can do is to complain and hope they put the old classics back on the air!

I have to agree with you. Young kids like routine and security. Change is hard for them, and they are not worried about political correctness.

Children's shows are very disturbing. Can't imagine that parents are really monitering what the content is, or they wouldn't let their kids watch this stuff. It wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to wonder if kids have nightmares about this stuff. When do kids get to be kids?

Thats why if you have cable you get T.V land where you get to watch the original old shows. Also, My 4 year old everyday watches PBS and they have pretty good childrens programs on there as well.

they remade those things?? i mean, i can see where you comming from. there were some cartoons remade (sort of) like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that i liked. i understand that people are trying to update the characters for todays children. i mean, it was a different time back then, even for me. there will still be the classics like Tom & Jerry. There are still a lot of cartoons i remember that i haven't seen since then. But i like the cartoons now as well. some have really good storylines.

I think this people are making it too commercialized, i must agree with what you say. Why not let it stay the way they are, or just simply don't show it.
