I like to sketch or draw. Sometimes I paint. I also like to do yardwork. I didn't realize this at first but these are forms of therapy. They help me calm down and I always feel better afterwords. I also like music. Sometimes it distracts me and it seems like noise when I am trying real hard to do something...but when I drive..ew wee! I have it loud and I sing! I change the stations over and over looking for songs I can sing to. When I get home and pull in the driveway I always feel better and feel energetic. Now I know I am not the only one that sings in the car. lol What do you guys do for therapy?

I've always been involved in some art or craft, so I guess that's my therapy. It stops the inner dialog! Currently, I'm beading jewelry and working with wire and polymer clay. It's just difficult enough to require full attention to the tricky parts, while freeing my mind to appreciate the beauty of the art.
My son got me a satellite radio for my car and it has specific channels, like 50's and 60's music, etc. and it's commercial free. It's turning into a great source of singing (and laughing) out loud all by myself! Plus, I carpool an hour each way to work and my carpool buddy sings along too! We say that people who complain about the commute just don't know how to do it right.

I would have to agree with Jude. I get tired of that endless inner dialog grousing about bills and work and health issues. Beadwork requires concentration and takes my mind off of other things.
I sing in my truck because it doesn't have a radio and it takes my mind off of the long drive so I don't get too stressed out.
I play my guitar sometimes. Sometimes I just walk around the neighborhood with my digital camera and take photos.

There are a few things I use that I consider to be a way of therapy for me to unwind..
I find when I am very stressed out or even have incredibly sore muscles.. There are two things that will help to soothe the pain when I am feeling this way.. First one is I will take a long hot bubble bath.. I usually put some lavender in the bath water.. I find lavender to be very calming.. So I will put this in the bath water if I am feeling extremely stressed out or am sore from a long hard day..
Secondly if a bath is unable to soothe the pain that I may be feeling.. I will then get my other half to give me a massage, or he will even offer to give me a massage.. I find my other half is always willing to sit there with nice massaging oil or even lotion that smells really good.. Has a soothing smell to it.. And he will sit there for a half n hour to an hr. until my legs begin to feel better.. Or whatever part of my body may be bothering me.. I sometimes even tend to fall a sleep while he is doing this.. haha.
I as well turn to making graphics a large majority of the time as well.. I feel all of the emotions I may be experiencing help me to make a graphic that shows so much emotion, & gets my message across.. It's amazing how emotions can make one to become so much more creative.. At least I have found I am so much more creative when I am going through a few obstacles in my life.. I find making graphics to be a stress reliever.

I like to be near the water, preferably on the beach. I think it is this huge open space together with rhythmic sound of waves that make me feel balanced.

I love taking baths - baths with music and candles are even better. This really helps me calm down and relax. I also really like dancing to some good music. It helps me forget about my stresses.

I prefer to listen to music on the radio or play a computer game, to help me relax from the daily hassle.

You have to be careful using certain practices for therapy. I used to think writing music was a good therapy for me. but then i would get discouraged at writing and then get upset. so that wasnt a good outlet. Just be careful!

It depends on how i'm feeling. If i'm feeling angry or upset I usually listen to some loud music to help draw the emotions out and after about an hour i'm fine. If I need something calming I usually sit quietly and read a book or make a bear which has a very relaxing effect. I also meditate and that helps me de-stress and unwind after a long day at work.

I have a whole list of things I like to do to calm down and use as therapy, lol. I love to just go isolate myself and read a few chapters in a book, listen to music, draw, or write poetry. All of these activities seem to help me relax and rejuvinate! I especially love how reading takes my mind away from the day's cares and can put me in a completely different place almost instantly. It's a great way to kind of get away from it all! :)

I make jewelry with beads and crystals at the end of a long day. Sometimes, i watch a funny movie, or an inspiring one. I love to walk my dogs if I need immediate relief. Sometimes calling my sister helps my irritable mood turn into a good one. We laugh together a lot. My favorite is to turn up the stereo relly loud while I clean or organize something. I hardly ever get to do that since my husband works from home, so I bought an IPOD, and tune out.

Singing in the car is great for me exspecially when I am angry it calms me down. I also like reading. Reading a good book always makes me relax. Plus it helps me sleep because I don't keep thinking about the things that bothered me earlier.

When I am upset about something, I take a long walk outside. It always makes me feel better. Another thing I do is pet one of our guinea pigs. They are so gentle, they will sit on my lap for as long as I want and just let me pet them. That calms me down. Also, I either call a close friend to vent or write them an email, that seems to help too.

For therapy I actually go to therapy and take medication hence the name. I like music too it helps with depression and anxiety. I also got a dog. I used to be really depressed in the morning but now I wake up and I take her out of her crate and I smile. I should have named her Prozac.

I have a couple of hobbies that relax me. I love to sing as well. My favorite thing is to go in the garage turn some tunes on and refinish furniture. I love big trash day in our community. You can find all kinds of tresures. I would rather refinish something old, then go buy something new.
