Fundoplication Procedure - the fundoplication procedure, what it does
United States
January 14, 2007 8:25pm CST
Tomorrow Mrs. Mee will be going in for Surgery and I will not be here for a couple of days. Please give your thoughts and prayers for her that all goes well as it is worrying mee rather terribly. I know that in this day and age this is a rather common procedure that she is having (Fundoplication for hyatial hernia) but I am still rather worried since there are so many possible complications associated with it. Fundoplication is when they take part of the upper stomach and stitch it around the esophagus thus creating a new diaphragm to keep the stomach from protruding into the chest. Anyways all the thoughts and prayers will be greatly appreciated and if you do post you will be rated as soon as I get back from the hospital. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. Have a Great Day!!By The Way, this 500 rate paste rule bites!!! I am glad that I am over half way there!!!

You will both be in my thoughts! As you both will have to be strong. :) I know this will be nerve racking, but keep your chin up and think positive thoughts. I am certain everything will be fine. I will be sure to set aside some time to send you and Mrs Mee healing energies. Take care my friend and do not feel you have to rush back. We will be here when all is calm for you and your's again.

Well we just last night got our first "REAL" snow here in Michigan, (about 8 inghes so far). As a result of this we got out to the hospital and she was all preped, with the IV and all actualy ready to go, when Dr Korterba,(wonderful Doctor one of the best around), came into the room and said that she had an emergency surgery that she had to do and had to postpone on her. OMG Mrs. Mee about flipped out since she does not like needles to begin with, so she had just got stuck three times for nothing. So now we have to reschedual for a later date. Thank you for the post and have a great day!! Thank you also for the healing thoughts!!

I am so sorry to hear about this!! I have never heard of this procedure so I would be like you and be scared...well for any procedure actually!! I know I was when I had to get my gall bladder removed, and that is a pretty well known procedure! I pray that you both come out of this better then before. But I am sure that God or that one of his angels will be in there with her making sure that she will be safe and in good hands.

I wish good luck to her! My grandma had surgery before. two years ago, She had to go 3:00 at midnight in the morning. She came back six days later good walking. Dosn't having surgery supposed to have you recover in the hospital longer? weird

well i am sure everything will be alright and she will be just fine, you don't have to worry about her at all, there is very less chances of anything going wrong. and as far as the 500 thing is concerned you can easily cross it that is not a big problem just complete the post as far as possible and you will the there in no time. well i am not totally in favor of this 500 posts thing but i thing it will be a good boast for the new comer who a motivator to cross that 500 mark that is it i guess. good luck with the operation and tell me about the how it went.

I dont know much about this surgery, infact you just enlightened me as to what it is! I wish her the best of luck, and will keep her in my prayers daily. As you always know there are always possible risks and complications with any surgery and you are valid in being greatly concerned! Try to keep calm and positive for her, because it is probably far more worse (what she is feeling) than you since she is having the surgery....make sure you give her your love and total support (as you already are) and pray for her, and take someone else with you and something to do to keep your mind off things while she is in surgery. I agree about the 500 post thing, I like to upload pics!
