What does terror mean to you?

I got to thinking the other night about what the word "terror" really means to me. It is defined as "a state of intense fear". I have been in fear I few times in my life, but intense fear, maybe only one time. Then I got to thinking about how on Fox News, the little scroll thing on the bottom of the screen will say Terror alert: High. Too me, that's scary! So whats terror mean to you? And do you think the US really needs to be under a high terror alert? =/
