My oldest has a myspace but it is private. I monitor it regularly and have asked him to delete certain people. As long as they live here and I can help choose their associations I will do so. I don't worry too much about the strangers because they can't see his profile, and he has no identifying information or pictures on the front page. Yes, I have one too!

My son is almost 10 and I think that classifies as preteen..anyway, I do not allow him to have a myspace account. One reason is because, really, he doesn't have any friends that get online that much. If he did, I would probably let him have one, but he would be closely monitored. He is allowed to get online sometimes, but not unsupervised. Myspace has implimented a lot of great things to help keep younger kids safe, but it is still up to the parents to keep tabs on what their kids do on there.

Max does not have a myspace page and for that I am thankful. He hasn't asked about it at all tho I know lots of kids at his high school have them. I have searched and looked at pages from kids that go to his school and not seen anything good that I would want him involved in. Plus, I can see that they actually reply and post on their pages and friends pages during school hours. Here at our public schools each kid is issued their own laptop and so they find ways to have access all day and that IMO is not good.
Then add in the threat of predators out there and so no I don't really want my preteen and teen kids on there at all!
