I know back in the 60's when my parents got married it was about 20-25 was the average age. Now it seems like it's much later in life. I was 27 when I got married. What do you all think is the average or appropriate age to get married these days?

I don't think there is an acctual appropriate age. It depends on the people and their situation.

Where I am from, most people are married before or right out of high school. Most of them are divorced shortly after. And remarried shortly after that, lol.

I think that's not all that common now, I don't see that many weddings right after high school with most people going to college these days.

I was 15 the first time that I got married and even though my marriage lasted for 10 years, I don't reccomend getting married that young. I believe that the right age for marrige is around 28 or 29. By this time everyone seems to have grown enough to actually be able to have a healthy relationship. It seems the kids that get married young are not ready for all that goes along with marriage.

15? I don't think most states allow that anymore, so doubt many would get married at that age now. Was there a reason such as expecting a child?

By responding to this question you make me to think that I become older again with one more year in 2007.I cant say if is a good age or a bad age but some are calling this age a good one.At this age you are able usually to think more mature than others which are younger, but also you can be in the crisis of this certain age.You have to have a good family and maybe children. As for me at this age I have a family ,a driven license which usually you can afford to have at the age of 18 here in Romania,I have a job but I do not have any children yet.I would like to have and I think is the best age to be already in marriage life. Some says that the best age to be married is around 29 years old but this depends from country to country. If you can guess what age I have it is very good and if not I will tell you that I am 37 and I am thankful to God for what I have and done till this age!May God bless you all even if you are old ,young ,married or not married! So if you can calculate the year of my born you will see that I was born in 1970!

There's no real ideal age. It depends on if the person is mature enough to be ready, and if they have the right partner to make a good marriage. Some people are ready by age 22, and some people aren't yet ready even by age 42. I think I am ready right now as a person, but financially I am not ready, and I haven't found the right girl yet, therefore I am still unmarried.

being financially read is a big thing, many marriages end in the first year or two due to financial issues.

I think closer to 30 is best. You need to travel, finish school and have some fun before settling down.

yeah, I agree these days it's best to do your travelling early. With having kids later it will be harder to travel and enjoy it once the kids are out of the house.

I have been married twice (don't ask LOL) anyway the first time I was 19 and the second 30. I believe if we had been older things may have lasted. Nonetheless I have not given up on marriage but most men I know my age or older seem to have no interest anymore.
