Job interview experience

I was surprised when an interviewer asked this question "how would you convince a customer to buy this pen?" he showed me the pen its just an ordinary pen a black one with an ordinary cap. even though i answered the question, i dont think i satisfied the intervier and i don't expect that they gonna hire. Can you guys have any idea on how to answer it? do you have any related job interview question and would you cope on it?
