What name do your grandchildren call you?

When I tried to decide what name I wanted my grandchildren to call me I was amazed at all the different names grandparents give themselves. The other grandmother already had grandchildren and hers was Nana so that was out. I had heard meme, so that is what I picked, as I felt granny or grandmother was going to make me sound too old (even if I was). My mother is 77 and the grandchildren dare not call her grandmother or granny, she is Mama Lou!!! There are so many names for grandparents now such as meme, gigi, Nana etc... What is yours????

Normally our south indian side grand children normally call as thatha. Whereas my grand child calling as sir due to teaching tuition classes in my home. May be by seeing students calling me as sir. Anyway it looks as pretty as thatha.

My sons have 4 grandmas. My mom is Grandma Di, my step-mother in law is Grandma Debbie, my step mom is Nona. We think the Nona came because her name is Donna and that's what I call her, so I think my sons were trying to say Donna and Nona has just stuck. My mother in lay is Gigi. The confusing part comes with the papa's... my dad and my step dad are named Mark! Have you considered letting the kids decide what to call you? My dad and step mom said the boys could call them whatever they want and they got named Nona and Papa, which they love.

My mom chose Nonni for my children to call her. My Aunt chose Meme for her grandchildren to call her. My mother in law is Greek so she goes with the original Yia Yia which is the Greek name for Grandmother. I ahve always called my grandmother Nana and some day when i have grandchildren I will be called Nana. It won't make me feel old!
