What is your Basis of A Quality Discussion?

Do you rate a quality of discussion just by its length? or is it by the content of the discussion and it subject matter. For me, it's regardless the length but it's more of the content of the response or the discussion at hand. While some people rely on making quality discussion by interest, it may then varry because one topic may be so interesting to some while to others it is not. So what do you say is the basis of a quality discussion?

For me, it's all about the content. If it's worthwhile and interesting, and presented in a way that provides for discussion, i consider it to be a quality discussion. Length means nothing. In fact, if a person just babbles on with no real subject or anything, I'll still consider it a pretty poor discussion.

likewise, i don't consider lengthening discussion as the best or even a quality discussion.

I agree that quality should be the basis of a best response regardless of its length. Relevance of the response to the topic and sensibility of the comment should also be considered.

Length does not necessarily equate to a quality response. Some people can use a few well-chosen sentences and put together a really high-quality response, while others go on and on and say nothing. I look for what is being said, not how long it is. As long as someone makes an effort to contribute to the discussion with something pertinent, I call that a good response. I try to remember that sometimes people have language barriers that prevent them from being able to express themselves as eloquently as others can, but at least they try.
