What is the attraction of lying to others?

I don't understand people who feel the need to lie to others. What is it that appeals to them about it? What trigger in their brain sets them on the path to creating "bullsh!t" for other people to deal with? Does anyone else know what the deal with these people is? LIke that sharpie chick lying about earning 21 bucks on here with a 49 rating. She's full of crap and so many people just bought her story hook, line and sinker. Me, smelled like a ka-ka sandwich to me. Upon investigating her claims, found out she posts a lot of one liners and a few good answers. She claims to have made this HUGE amount on money on here and refuses to tell folks how she did it, which just strikes me as petty as hell to begin with. Take a look.... tell me what you think: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/598331.aspx

I read over her post and her profile and I believe she is full of it. if what she was saying was true than she would have stated how she did so instead of blowing off the people that asked. I say report her, so Mylot admins can deal with her in their own way.

Just wanted to add that I just took a look at here supposed earning thing and to me it looks like she scanned in a store receipt than pasted over the acutal amount. I took a screen shot of mine and even though I know different computers have a different font setting mine looks nowhere near like a printed out receipt. She's definately full of it imo.

Thanks Jewel, I appreciate it very much. What I don't though, is what is it that motivates people to do such things? What on earth could she possibly get out of it?

It's a very big possibility that she wanted attention. While reading over the discussions it was very obvious that she was creating discussions that would get the attention of most everyone on Mylot. And one that I found very un-necessary. She's going about things in all the wrong ways and she'll get attention alright though it will be all the wrong kind. People like her don't last long on these type of sites. I'm sure it won't be to much longer until Mylot puts the clamps on her.

I think the people who lie do it to get reactions from people. Especially from such a huge community like this with much to talk about, how much praise and wow's can you get? Or wonder how many curious people there are who will respond to such outrageous stories.. But of course, they don't do much anyway because it's so obvious they're fake. Mm, she's made such a booboo in her screenie and story, though. And not even a member for a day yet ;o unless it's a terrible glitch..

Yes I have to agree that there's no way she has made anywhere near that amount - let alone maybe a couple of cents. It's people like that who often make me wonder that they really must not have a life if lying is what they do for their thrills!!! I mean - it's just wrong in my opinion - if you can't be honest - then don't respond and respect others who are honest in the discussions!!! Liars are like losers - they just don't get things - which is why they have to create false situations to make themselves feel better!!!

I don't believe a word you say. Posting an easily falsified image doesn't mean anything. Once again, I challenge you to PROVE it.
