insomnia is more psychic aliment rather than a physical one ,the causes of insomnia may be
1. depression
2.palpitation
3.beverage consumption
4.irregularites in bioligical clock
the most common reason for insomnia is depression which may be result due to various condition of an individual.
one of the most proven technique to treat insomnia is autosuggestion or autohypnosis. in this method constant repition of a particular word or more effectively a sentance is done which results into exhaustation of mind and relieve from anexiety and tension which results in to sleep.
this is proven and expenice based technique for insomnia .

Yeah, I´ve heard that autohypnosis can help. Unfortunately it doesn´t work for me. I repeated the same sentence for example: I´m very tired over and over again with no result.
Anyway it´s a good thing that you´ve posted these methods here. Hopefully it helps a lot of people.

This may sound silly or childish, but I've found that "rocking" myself to sleep really helps a lot. I imagine the repetition of a particular word might do the same kind of thing, but I seem to benefit from the physical rocking motion.
Might be one of the reasons I'll konk out as a passenger in a car in a second flat. LOL!
So, that's at least a suggestion to try, if you are sleeping alone or if your sleep partner doesn't mind the movement. Hehe. (I'm in the latter category.)
