This is not possible because Kashmir acts as a natural barrier from pakistan for India. India has always protected rights of kshmiries by disallowing people from outside Kashmir to buy land there. On its own Kashmiries will find itr hard to survive as there's no economical infrastructure to support them, tourism is the main industry there which already has been ruined by continuous militant activities. Pakistan's intentions are very clear. The moment India walks out its troop from Kashmir Pakistan will take over the control of Kashmir. You should be aware of the history of Kashmir. When India Got partitioned, kashmir was ruled by a hindu king and had poulation of muslims. Now king was scared for his life and would notr decide which side to go with. He kept it a dangling issue but in the mean while Pakistan sent its troop to capture Kashmir. Soon Raja harisingh sent a letter to Nehru for help and hence Kashmir was protected by India since then and it has been given a special status by Indian Government. Kashmir is an independent state India needs it with her to protect its boundaries and frankly Pakistan's rrecent invasion in kargil hs increased mistrust among Indians.
