any child below the age of 14 or so, who has to earn his/her livelihood and make use of the street for daily living, can be called a street child. in the strict sense, a child is one who has made the street his home - a place of earning, eating and sleeping and who has no contract with his family. In the wider sense,a street child is defined as one who lives and works on the street but has occasional contacts with his family. In the wisest sense, a street child is one who has a family to go back to, but uses the street for his earning and spends much of his time there.
