Will we ever be able to Travel In Future?

relativity theory states that if you move with the speed of light then you can travel in future, say you are 15 yrs old and and sit in such a spacecraft which moves 99.5% of that of speed and you travel in space for 5 years with that speed and return to year, you will see all your classmates having 65 age but you are only 20 yrs old i read this on a site while googling so what do you think, can this be possible? well i think we may travel in future but i don't think we will ever be able to travel in past, for example you travel in past where you see your grandpa n grandmother having a date, if you stop them meeting, then how will your mother and how will you be born? and if you won't be born then how will you travel back? share your views about it

No, i don't think we can ever be able to travel in future. That is beyond imagination actually. There is no way we can build a spacecraft which can travel with even 50% of the speed of light. Ofcoz we can send a proton with that speed, but no way a human can ride on that. The only way to see future is to live till that time, if human can develop some kind of medicine which can increase human life up to 1000 years, then we can not only see the future, but we can also live that future.

i hope that kinda medicine could be available in the next 50-60 years, so that i can live upto 1000 or more years to see whatever i have told can be trur or not :) hehe

When you go fast your weight (mass) also incresed very insignificantly. This change in mass and time cannot be noticed with the speeds that we are used to. But when coming close to the speed of light this change is significant. Since at the speed of light you have an infinite mass it is impossible to reach that. The light particle is made of photons which have a zero weight and when it increase zero is zero. (0x0=0). So light can travel at the speed of light.

No I don't think we will. It's just not possible. You have to make a difference between fiction and reality.

well i think it may not be possible so soon, but might be possible in the next 500 years, what do you say?

tell me the site url i also want to know more about that, and i think its not possible in general thinking but if you think via physics then its would become true.

I think the time stream goes both ways so we should be able to move forward and back.As far as changing things in the past and changing the future, yes we'd have to be very careful. No stepping off the path and squishing butterflys and some kind of check point before we came back to make sure we weren't bringing anything back with us.And we'd have to be careful not to change the future either because it you think about it,that future we were in would be another future's past.As for the having to move light speed thing,I don't believe it.My theory is that time is a stream just like one of water,so it has layers and we'll be able to move through it just the same.I just hope to see it in my lifetime.

Yes.What u r saying is true. But the current devlopment in technology isn't so good enoug hto produce a spacecarft that runs at the speed of light. Though it will surely be possible after more than 125 yrs.

well i have started this topic knowing, i started it on other forum also (don't wanna name it, its against the rule) and i got many intelligent and enlightening responses there, though there was 50-50 yes and no, lets see what happens here

like what you have just stated, it's a theory - "relativity theory states...". it's relatively easy to comprehend but don't ask me, ask physicists and mathematicians. i can only say sci-fi...¿ sigh

No idea abt this new Concept to me... well if this happens then i think it will be exiting........

if that is possible, i would still choose not to travel to the future. it'll be better if the future remains a mystery. that would be more exciting to me.

Let me tell u that time is also a dimension like others. If we can alter those then we can also alter time. Time travle is possible according to books only now.........it can be achived in near future. Understand theory relativety.....iF u Travel 10 yeras u wil be 10 years irrespective to future or past.. This looks like a joke but its going to happen.

"Impossible is nothing" imagine that the making of harry potter is not a easy job but they made like that we can!!!???? what do you say

ofcourse my dear, nothing is impossible in this world, we just have to try working hard on what we want to achieve, and i hope we soon be able to get that technology which can make us travel in future

what i think is, all those UFOs may be people coming from future, and not aliens from other planets, and since UFOs can't be tracked down, i.e. they don't have any effect on our present, hence you might travel back just to see what is happening, but you can't change your past in anyway, and i do believe that those UFO's and other similar incidents are real and those are the time travellers travelling back in time to see how's their past look like

Saw this question in DUNO too. Well, I don't think we can. Because Stephen Hawkings proved that TIme travel is not possible.

There exists a lot of difference between theory and practical .first of all its not at all possible to travel with the speed of light.if possible ,let me know at the earliest .i will join u.bye Einstein.

Ya you can travel faster ... But you cant travel faster than the speen of ligth ... Howerer fast you can never achieve the speed of light achieving a speeed of about 5000 km/ sec will be grat deal and will take another 500 years... leave alone 300000 km/sec I feel it anyway we will never achieve it atleast in over lifetime... reading about this far interesting This relativity is only a theory and is not practically yet proved... I agree with your point that we cannot travel back and all as you say the granfather story seems more logical... So i feel that when we start traveeling faster we will see marvels....

Possible. Why not? Everything is possible with technologies. Laser technology was once a science fiction thing.
