This is one of the best pictures I've ever taken.

I'm really proud of this photo. It hasn't been 'shopped or anything, it was just a lovely sunny day. Tell me what you think....

Great Shot! I get a really nice photo like this every once in a while myself. The quality is actually better then you might think. Getting everything to look this clear in a photo is really tough to do.

that is a really great photo! Yosemite is beautiful. My 'avatar' is probably one of my favorite pics that i've taken. It's of my husband in an arch in Arches National Parks in UT.

Thanks, it was total luck!, I have a bunch of these really nice pics that were taken as holiday snapshots. There was just so much beautiful scenery I kept stopping by the roadside to catch bits of it. You can see the sentinel dome way in the distance at the centre.

WOW that is gorgeous. The mountains look stunning, the closest I have got to anything like that was the highlands in Scotland but your picture really does evoke some wonderful mental images

Thanks, I haven't visited the highlands (yet!). I love going to Scotland, but usually stay on the West coast for the occasional weekend of fishing with my friends.

An art critic would say that the exposure is off on the right hand side, since there's no detail in the shadow area. I say it's a great photo. Color version of 30% of Ansel Adams' stuff. Looks good to me.

Thanks for the response, and you're right. The picture is nice, but doesn't compare to the scent of pine trees in the air and the cool fresh breeze at 10,000 feet!

Thanks Gaby, it's probably not a great photo by proper standards, but it stirs me up because the day we spent there was probably the best day of the best holidy I ever had. You're right, despite the hoardes of tourists, there is just so much space and fresh air there it feels like you could be the only people around for miles.

May I give some positive criticism for your pic? I think that the tree branches at the top right of the image is destirbing the beautiful scenery that you have captures. Also the big tree in the forground is distracting from the entire image. I dont mean to sound critical, but that in my opinion is whats wrong with the pic. Otherwise its a beatiful capture!

Constructive criticism is most welcome! I agree that for a professional picture, your points are valid. Although this is actually just a holiday snap that came out really well. Interestingly, some other pictures I took have a little close foliage etc and they seem to add perspective. I agree though, that in this shot, the branch in the corner came out bad and doesn't have the same effect. I'll probably post a few more in the future so please keep a lookout for them as I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions.

Great Pic!! You should have it printed to the biggest size you can, have it framed and display it at your place! Be proud and show your work and keep on shooting! You have talent!! Best of luck! :-)

Thanks for the compliment! I have a few pictures of family around that I've taken, but for the arty stuff. I only really like & display large B&W prints around the house. maybe I'll start toying with the idea and see if I can disguise some of mine among the 'pro' photographs!!

Mountains! My favourite. As far as I'm concerned I wouldn't mind if I never saw another beach in my life, as long as I could see mountains, preferably with waterfalls and/or craggy rocky outcrops in amongst the green. I loved the highlands of Scotland for this, and I also love the Grampians here in Australia. "The Balconies" is a rocky outcrop overhanging a deep valley. You can walk out on it and enjoy a wonderful feeling of awe. Your photo. Great. I love it the way it is, but if I was taking it, I'd try to get a little more of the overhanging tree in the top right corner, just a little less of the foreground and a little less of the left side, thus making the centre of the photo a little off-centre. Thanks for sharing a good photo.

I love being in mountainous country too, although I love the prepetual motion of the sea just as much. Unfortunately, it will probably be quite some time before I get the opportunity to re-take this picture!

That's a great picture matey, the weather looks to have been perfect and really adds to the colour of the trees and the contrast to the edge of the mountain face. Well done.

Thanks, we were reminiscing about the trip recently and I said that we'd been unbelievably lucky with the weather. Despite my novice photography, I don't think that view can be enjoyed on many days due to reduced visibility.
