Or has the internet taken away any use or importance for the library? When I was in university not so long ago me and my classmates never used or went to the library. We just hopped online and got all the research and info from there.
What about you? do you still use the library? any need for it?

yeah i still go to the library... You can't compare the quality of those books with most of the information you can find on the internet ! At least at the library you know where the information comes from, the source. It is difficult to understand if an article on the inernet is good or not and if the author invented something... Everybody can publish his own things on the internet !

When I was taking college classes last year I used the library quite often. Many times when we were assigned a paper to write, we were required to list several sources from which our information came. The internet could be counted as only one source.

Yes, it is a valuable resource! Nothing can ever replace the satisfaction of dealing with physical books. IMHO

Sure am - I love the library any library, enjoying reading a good book, as a matter of fact I was there today. Our library has a fairly good collection of dvds, videos and books on tape in addition to the huge selection of books. I enjoy the internet and love being able to get information quickly, purchase online etc. But reading a book online isn't for me, I like to kick back with a drink of coffee, or water and get lost in the book I am reading. But now if I was in school for research nope it would be the internet, hands down, quicker to get done to get to the library to get a good "brain candy" book to read. :)

I go to the library every week now. To bring and or drop off books or videos. To do some research or what have you. But to get books. Best economical place to get a book.

I have a library card. I tried the library recently. The books are very outdated, so the material is no longer relevant. For example business and legal information cannot be relied on from the library. Most of my research is over the internet. The rest I find in bookstores. If you are looking for old classic novels, then go to the library. If you want to read a best seller and are willing to wait for six to nine months on a waiting list, then go to the library. Personally, I think our libraries need an overhaul. I find more people reading and browsing in the local bookstores than I do at the library.
