How much time do u wait for declaring THE BEST RESPONSE ?

I have seen that somepeople dont read the responses when number of responses exceed more than 50 and often the selected best response is from these 50 responses ,now if someone has posted something better at posting number100 it goes unnoticed and many a times it gives a feeling that we should not respond to discussions that are well sbove 50 responses not for selection of best response but bcoz it will be unnoticed.

I find that not only will it go un-noticed by the creator of the discussion, but also by the readers of the discussion. Because the comments are set to 10 per page it makes reading more comments a hassle... expecially those with slow internet connection. I personally always check every response i get to the discussions that i create because that is the reason i created them in the first place!
I am interested to know the significance of the 'best response' mark? Is it purely for egotistical purposes or do you think there is a financial incentive with it?

Well i have the same feeling tat many of the postings that are send get unnoticed.And about best response i believe that it makes u feel a little better that somehow someone has liked your opinion on a topic ,nothing else, more than commercial gains i love discussing things with people on mylot.Thanx for responding.

I have noticed that some members have marked a best response after only a couple of hours, so a lot of the time, I don't bother to respond to their topics. A lot of them never leave a comment after they have received a response, so I presume thay are just interested in posting and don't really want to discuss anything. It certainly puts me off responding to their topics.

Well u are very right about this ,earning money is a bigger concern for many mylot users rather than discussions.That is why most of tem are only interested in only posting discussions and getting higher number of responses.But i think there are also lot of other people who respond to discussion but definitely not if ur response is after 50 or so responses ,might be the browsing on mylot is a reason for this.
