I have been travleing around the USA and Europe for the past few years as often as possible and most times stay in a hostel, sometimes private rooms and sometimes shared. Many Hostels I find are nicer than some Hotels I have stayed in, and always very economical! Sometimes when I bring this topic up with friends they are shocked at even the idea of staying in a hostel. Just wondering about some of your thoughts on teh matter...

I would prefer hostel than in hotels. I usually travel because I want to know about the country and see the place and not to be locked in the room so why pay for so much when u could save while travelling? :) any tips of cheap but good hostel in paris, venis, rome? and other part of europe?

I agree. You dont need to spend so much money on a room u will hardly use anyway. Itl just be a place to sleep in when the day is over and leave all ur luggage when ur happily wandering around looking at new places.

Hello, I have stayed in a few good hostels in europe recently... Triana Backpackers, Seville Spain - Awesome! Beautiful, clean, very pleasant common room to meet other travelers, free internet, included simple breakfast! Port Salvo, Sorrento Italy - Same as above!! also, easy access to train to pompei and bus along Amalfi Coast. Ai Due Leoncini, Venice Italy - Beautiful, 10 min walk to train and main streets, clean! no internet or breakfast but it was still great!! I can't remember the names of other i have stayed :( When I think of them I will add them. Happy Traveling :)

thanks for the recommended cheap hostels. Is it ok if you can post the rates so we will at least have an idea how much will be the budget. Thanks! :)

I have only travelled around Philippines and never out of the country. But when I have friends from US and Canada come over, I dont really recommend staying on expensive hotels when there are affordable ones out(hostels and Inns) there which also have the same amenities and good housekeeping other big hotels offer. Besides, most of the time we only use the rooms to sleep in and spend the rest of the day touring the area or city anyway.
