first let us define it and then we can compare it objectively. so rejection is the state of being cast of as valueless or rendered inadequate. while depression is a mental state characterized by a pessimistic sense of inadequacy and a despondent lack of activity.
there. i think that rejection cannot be compared to depression since they do not fall under the same category. by that i mean rejection as a an act or a feeling (like feeling of rejection) while depression is a mental state. so i guess rejection precedes depression. like when we are rejected or our actions are thought of as valueless and inadequate we feel bad and we get depressed.. so basically thats it.. when we get rejected there is a possibility that we get depressed. rejection comes first.
