is spongebob gay?

i've heard homophobic conspiracies about this show before, but after watching a spongebob marathon today, i wonder. it does seem to have a lot of underlying, almost subliminal hints at homosexuality.

I hope he is, then I know my children will grow up to be fine adults who will not freak out over someone being in love with the same gender. I know they have already been exsposed to this once already, they watched TeleTubbies when they were younger :-) BTW that is funny, thanks for posting!
