Do you use credit cards often? I know there are some people who will only use cash when purchasing items because credit cards more or less end up costing you 3 times what you've paid for the item. I have cut up ALL of my credit cards. There were seven cards total. I was in debt. Horribly. And now? I've learned my lesson! I will never own another credit card. It's debit/cash/check for me only!

Personally I refuse to use credit cards. Its mainly that i dont like to get in debt, even a small debt makes me feel like i have a huge weight on my mind. Of course when i come to buy a house etc, i will need to do it. But i prefer to look at it as, if i cant afford something, then i dont buy it.

Credit cards are great if you don't abuse it. I use it to pay for everything including bills. I pay the total amount when due, that way I don't pay interest and still accumulate points. Last year I cashed in my points and got 900 bucks. I reckon thats good.

It´s an entrapment if we don´t pay attention to the debts. I work with some of them to get some benefits, but almost all except one are in a place that I can reach them, just in case, because it´s an invitation to spend.

I've had so many problems with credit cards. I don't have any right now and to be honest I don't want one. It's way too easy to over spend and get into debt. It doesn't help we hear the messages all the time well just "Charge it" and deal with it later. Well later happens sooner then we might like and before you know it you have are paying out far more then you want to.

I do have credit cards, but only use them when necessary. I typically use cash/debit for 99% of my transactions. However, online purchases I use creditcards, simply for safety's sake. I don't want anyone to have direct access to my bank account!

Are cedit cards the real problem here?
I think it's a lot about how you manage your shopping. Just because you have the ability to spend the money doesn't mean you have to spend it.
I use credit cards for using the money interest free for 50 days, plus you get additional benefits like insurance.
I guess with debit/cash/check you don't have the ability to spend and thus you don't get into problem. I think the problem is more psychological and that is what the credit card companies are hoping. They will keep increasing your credit limit as long as you keep up to date with your monthly payments, because it means more money they make from you.
So are they evil, in a way, but you are the one who is wrong not them.

I have a credit card. It's a no annual fee rewards card. the trick is to budget what you spend and make sure you have the money at the end of the month for everything you purchase with it. Online access makes this easier, beacuse you can check the balance anytime you want to.
Then, I pay it off at the end of every month. If you do this over and over, the money you spend really adds up over hte course of a year. At the end of the year, I got a check for $223. Not a fortune, but it didn't cost me anything. It's like getting an automatic rebate. So now, I use the card for almost everything, even when it's just a few dollars.

have yo ever felt that the credit card companies must issue customized disclosures on the consumers monthly bills explaining how many years it will take to pay off the card if only the requested minimum payment is made?this will throw a light on the credit card company's operations and how they are making a hell lot of a money, won't it?

Ya I learned my lesson the hard way as well. We had credit cards and loans and then lay offs came and we lost everything. The car, the house, everything. And now our credit rating is in the toilet cause of that, can't get credit to get another car. Funny huh?
