I love slow cooked pork... pork shoulder, pork chops, pork tenderloin, pork butt, picnic pork etc... got any good recipes? with veggies or cabbage is fine. I like to cook on the stove top, instead of baking, but i can deal with it. thanks!

Hello since you've mentioned to my discussion last time about adobo, maybe you'll be interested again to try another filipino dish to your list and this is my simple version of Pork Pochero: you'll need 1/2 kilo pork (cut into cubes) water 2 tablespoons oil Saba banana sweet potatoes (quartered) 1 bundle cabbage (sliced) 1 Pinch salt & pepper Tomato sauce Bay leaf Boil pork Lower fire and let simmer until all meat is tender. Take out all the meat, set aside, keep stock. In a casserole, saute onion, then pour in the stock and pork stock cubes and a bit of tomato sauce to add a bit of color to it and add in the bay leaf as well. Bring to a boil, add all meat, banana, sweet potatoes. Season with salt(depend on your taste or if you use salt) and lastly add in the cabbage. Hope this is not too complicated for you. Enjoy cooking.

thanks... this is not complicated, i will use pork shoulder and slice it. The one thing that seems strange is the banana!! thats odd, must be to sweeten it? i love cabbage with pork too! ;) one day i wish to visit the philippines.

I dont know if you've got an idea about that "saba banana" it is really good for cooking.Yes you're right,it is to add sweetness. I've got a link here with the picture of saba banana(i dont know why i cant put an image at the moment)just have a look.http://www.pinoyfoodtalk.net/index.php/site/comments/saging_na_saba_saba_bananas/ If you cant find any of that kind then that recipe would be alright without that banana cos we still got the sweet potatoes.

Stuffed Pork Chops "I got this recipe from a friend and it is awesome! When I want comfort food, this is the one that I turn to. My husband loves it too! We love the stuffing so much I usually double the recipe for the bread crumb mixture, leave everything else the same. For the bread cubes, French bread works best, not sourdough INGREDIENTS 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 4 thick cut pork chops 3 cups day-old bread cubes 1/4 cup butter, melted 1/4 cup chicken broth 2 tablespoons chopped celery 2 tablespoons chopped onion 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup 1/3 cup water DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a skillet, heat the oil and brown the pork chops. Place the pork chops in a baking dish. In a bowl, toss the bread cubes, melted butter, chicken broth, celery, onion, and poultry seasoning together. Put heaping mounds of the bread crumb mixture onto the pork chops. Combine the cream of mushroom soup with the water, and pour this mixture over the stuffing and pork chops. Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and continue baking for 10 minutes longer or until juices run clear. The meat thermometer should read 160 to 170 degrees.
