Do you know old NFS games? Were they better than now?

Well, the NFS saga is very well known by me, at least the older versions which are the ones I know better.
Started with NFS II back in 1998 and have to admit I played this one everyday, whenever I came back from school. Two player game with split screen was outstanding. Hundreds of hours that I've spent playing that thing...
Some time later, I also played to NFS Porsche Challenge, NFS Hot Pursuit and NFS Underground, back in 2004.
Today I admit there is not enough time for games and as a matter of fact, I don't know newer NFS versions at all.

The new games are great than the first one's
But let me say that NFS II SE and NFS V are classics...
The new games like NFS Underground, NFS Most Wanted are rocking they have great graphics and great story...
The last one NFS Carbon, had good graphics but it was below expectations as it did not give anything new from the other games in the series

I agree. Carbon seems not to feel so "new" as you would expect. It seems like Most Wanted with different scenarios.

Yes, I agree with you...
But we gotta evaluate each game according to the time they were launched. ;)

This is to some extend correct, because NFS 5(poshe) was the one I enjoyed most because it had the option damage and next, it was more realistic. NFS most wanted is much better than NFS carbon, so I think that the old ones were better(I dont mean ancient-I'm sick of NFS 1,2,3 & 4). So NFS is getting better in graphics but not in gameplay. But the recent ones have appearance modifications and cool cars, so too would go for the newer ones.(the decision is kinda hard to make!)

have you guys played the "Over Driven" game? it was released in 3DO platform. i believe it's the japanese version of NFS. samegameplay and graphics. only menus edited and translated to japanese. i think that was the best experience for me when it comes to NFS games. but hey!! i love the NFS carbon for the muscle feature.
