Which is your favorite discipline in riding? Just taking an informal survey...
I personally grew up riding cutting horses, but now I have been riding Hunters for years and would like to break into Jumpers at some point. I also like the occasional trail ride.

I do a lot of trail riding. I love getting outdoors, and here in Vermont with the changing seasons there is a lot of variety, even if you use the same trails. I have had western pleasure horses, and eventers, and some that were just good trail horses. I have done some western riding and just started learning hunter/jumper, but I think I like just relaxing on the trails the best. I love watching dressage, but I don't think I will ever reach that level.

I've done a bit of everything, but I have primarily ridden hunters and event horses. I started in the hunters, swapped over to eventing and dabbled in saddleseat, then had to move barns and got suckered back into the hunters (and a bit of jumpers.) I rode equitation through college via the IHSA, and now I have graduated and have rekindled my interest in dressage and eventing.

I mainly rode racking horses. A pure pleasure to ride on trails. Never had a back problem once I started riding racking horses. Wonder if there are any here in Scotland?

My favourite discipline is carriage driving. I love going out round the countryside with a pony and trap. Unfortunately, I lost my driving pony to colic a year ago but I am on the look out for another one to replace her. My partner, who isn't a horsey person enjoyed going out with Peggy as well and as he is scared to ride my horse, even though she is nearly 27, it is a good way for us to do something together. He is keen to get a new pony as he wants to try horse driving trials. We need a really good pony for that!

I've been riding Western all my life and have enjoyed rodeos and trail riding and have even done a bit of team roping. I'm very interested now in learning to ride English and progress into Dressage. Riding hunters and jumpers would also be a great sport and I would love to do that at some point. Have fun with the jumping!

I love dressage. It is fantastic to feel your horse round up underneath you. These is so much discipline and presicion involved, that it is hard to get away with mistakes. Overall, it forces you to become a better rider, as you will not succeed if you do not ride correctly. It is also the basis to all other english styles. Western riding I feel has a lot more respect for the horse, and allows it to use its own intuition, yet remain perfectly obedient to the rider. I would love to learn more, but where I live, you would be lucky to find a good english instructor, let alone western! I also trail ride frequently to give my horse a change of scenery and to relax. It's so good for their mentality to get out. It makes them braver and encourages them to respect you more.

Definitely western. I'm not a skilled rider and need to occasionally hold onto the horn to feel secure. I know that's not proper but I have to do it. I do love riding horses tho and wish I had more opportunity to do so and learn more.

I love jumping and riding in the nature (what the term for this in English?)
Dressage is pleasant but I'm so bad! I have a lot of difficulty with this discipline, but when I will ride again, I will try to increase.
Western is an other view of the sport. I think I would try one day, but in France it isn't easy to find a western club. (if someone have an adress?)

Cowgirl here, western!!! Actually when i origianally started riding a million years ago, i was an english rider, but then i just couldn't handle the snooty english kids around here, plus my butt never looked too great in those breeches, so i went western! would like to learn dressage someday though!
