My cat liked melons, cucumber, peas, corn, and even sweet pepper.

I had a cat about 20 years ago and I used to prepare him cooked fish and mixed it with brown rice and sometimes added powder yeast for the extra B-vitamines and better taste or gave him yeast tablets which he loved. I never bought cat food in the shop. Has anyone of you tried unusual foods for your pets?

My cat eats dry food (science diet) every day with about a tablespoon of canned food once a day as a "treat". He loves treats, but only beef flavored- he won't touch the seafood or chicken flavors. I give him very little table food; once in a while some fish or steak cut up really small. The only unusual thing that he LOVES is canned mushrooms, believe it or not! I found this out by accident; one time when he was staying at my parents' house while I was out of town, my mom had opened a can of mushrooms to put on pizza. She puts them on a paper towel on the counter to drain the liquid from them. Imagine her surprise when she walked into the kitchen and found Toby on the counter, happily eating mushrooms! He's almost 11 now, and he still loves them. Whenever I open a can for cooking, he gets some in his special dish.
