This is hypothetical and may never happen but it's interesting to know what people think about a basic fact of life.
You are in a raft that can only take 2 persons. The boat is sinking rapidly with your wife and mother in it. Who will you save, your wife or your mother? Some says they will save the mother because they can always change wives but they only have one mother.
Another group (including me, and my mother will surely be mad at me reading this had she been alive today)they will save the wife because they are one flesh and no one can separate them from the other and the mother has already lived her life and have done her best.
Who will you save?

Well, I'm not a man so it could not be my wife in the boat. It would have to be my husband, LB (Lazy Bum). I surely would take LB into the raft, but then there is no doubt he would jump back into the water, put his mother into the raft and return to the water, himself. Thus he would save both of us. He could never chose between us. He would sacrifice himself.

Response #3 had not been posted yet when I started to compose response #4. I did not copy the theme from #3 and #3 did not copy from me. Neither of us could see the others response before we posted them.

Well I am not a man but for the sake of an interesting topic I am going to change it to my husband and my father. My answer would be to save them both because I would be the one to jump from the raft leaving room for both of them to survive.

I would have to save my moms life she gave me life in the first place and all, plus if i can save the elder then the younger should be able to save herself or at least tread water for a moment till i get back- glad i never had to make that choice though cause my mom was there for me long after the ex was outa the picture haha
