Joining animals with humans

Recently, it is being said, that scientists are creating embryos from animal and human cells, to make a big leap on the medicine field. Considering that the new being, is half human and half animal is completely abhorrent. Will the results justify the price being paid. Personally, it is kind of creepy, imagine these beings aren't killed before they reach mature, they might get exposed to something or "something" happens, like an uncontrollable will, or a new epidemic. Playing as gods is not funny, it is all I can say.
