Part of what makes U2 so successful is the way they all contribute in their songwriting. But if I had to choose, I guess I would go for the Edge. He doesn't have ego-tripping guitar solos or riffs but instead, he channels his deep but reticent personality into creating ambient guitar hooks that really serve their songs. That's quite an achievement if you ask me.
