i happened to answer a phone call just this day. an old man was at the other line looking for both my parents. since they've gone to work, i told him so. he repeated his question and again i told him that they weren't at home and just call later. he loudened his voice upon repeating again the same question, and while i was answering it, he just hanged up the phone without even saying goodbye or whatsoever! just that. Man, such kind of rude people should never have existed. have you experienced a similar situation and think that older people that should be the role model of the youth be obliterated?

i got simillar situation to yours - i got an information on an anwsery machine that some guy wants ... and there was a lot of different words which i couldn't understand cause this guy couldn't speak my language at all. I just ignored him and after like 2 days he called and wanted to buy a cabbage from me (?) , i was so deeply surprised why the heck he wants to buy a cabbage from me? i ask ed him and he started to shout that i was suppose to give me cabbage so i hang up . well he called few mroe times and tried to make me give me cabbage but after short explanation that he has wrong number he usually started to shout on me so i just hang up ;)

the older people should know better and have manners, ive had one of them phone calls before for my boyfriend off a company, they seemed very demanding on the phone, i told the man twice that he wasn't here because he was actually asleep and i wasn't waking him up, lol. then the man started rasining his voice and repeating can i speak to mr so and so, in the end he'd said it 3 times, i shouted back at him, DOYOU NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH AND SPEAK WITH RESPECT WILL YOU and then i just put the phone down because he annoyed me so much, they don't ring anymore but if they do, i shall tell them where to go!!

I experienced other situations on the phone. Elderly are very difficult to deal with. Unfortunately, you have to have alot of patience. They expect alot from young folks.

caller i.d. don't answer it.
and why not tell her the truth? or rather, a portion of the truth. say... "i'm sorry. i'm so busy i simply don't have time to talk on the phone to anyone these days. i really have alot to do and while i really enjoy hearing from you, i'm going to have to start forcing myself to get busy. maybe you could call me next week and i could chat for a couple minutes."

wow...that would always make me feel weird. i get the..."hi there, can i talk to your mommy or daddy?" i just sit there with my jaw dropped because I'M 23!! and haven't lived with my parents since i was 17..i think maybe he though you weren't telling the truth or something, or maybe her didn't hear you. sometimes that can happen. especially with the digital phones and connections. sometimes i'm talking at one end and my sister can't hear me or vise versa. who knows. just ignore things like that.

How awful. I would have repeated it twice (in case he had a hearing problem) and then hung up on him. There is no need for that kind of behavior even if you are elderly. They act like that because they feel they can get away with it.

Once I receive a rude phone call. The caller tried to call three times and hang up. I was infuriated, with fumes coming out of my ears. The third time I picked you the phone, I greeted the user with some harsh rude words, only to discover that it was my father trying to reach me by phone. It seems his telephone was not in good working order. I did not know how to continue the telephonic conversation.

It is really tricky dealing with rude elders, but a word of caution here,we should always be patient with old people, bcos sometimes they behave just like children and most of the time it is not their fault,i think it has to do with the brain not functioning at optimal capacity,i ve been tempted to insult a very old man for being extremely rude to me but i thank God i was able to contain my anger, and you know the beauty of the situation,he came to apologise to me shortly before we disembarked,we were in a train together

huh? how rude! sometimes, we try to understand old people. maybe they are just not in the mood. but sometimes, they should atleast try to be kind and not expect everybody to understand them. sorry about your experience. i haven't experienced such rudeness from an old person. but i did experienced it when an ex girlfriend of an ex boyfriend gave me a call telling me that i am an a**hole and that i took his boyfriend away from her. she shouted at me and i really cried. she just hung up after without even saying goodbye.

How how rude! Do you have caller ID? If so, you should've called him back and asked him who he was and what he wanted with your parents. Or what I would've done is hung after I gave him my answer the first time. It was probably a telemarketer. I get those type of calls all the time, and I jsut hang up. I hate dealing with rude people.

Obliterating odler people will only make you ruder than the old man you have on the phone, so don't. Yeas I was in the same situation and I was also mad at first but I realized that there must be some compelling circumstance why he acted that way. Probably you have to ask your parents about the man, I just don't know if you got his name. Given that the man was naturally rude is no reason for you to curse him, there are for sure many kind older people around. So foregt about that man, don't let him ruin you or stir you to develop a not so good personality. Good luck.
