In the Spanish language it is also called "arroz". I am not hispanic, but my husband is from Puerto Rico, so I have learned to speak his language. Portuguese and Spanish have a lot of similarities!

In Malaysia, uncooked rice is 'beras', cooked rice is 'nasi'.
As Chinese, using the Cantonese dialet - uncooked rice is 'mai', cooked rice is 'fan'.
Using the Chinese language itself - uncooked rice is 'mi', cooked rice is 'fan' (using another intonation).
