Computers which don't need a landline connection.

I'm looking to move to Cyprus soon but the house I'm moving to doesn't have a landline and its been built on a considerable amount of agricultural land which means it would cost thousands to run and install a telephone line there. Is there any type of computer/software package I can get which will allow me standard internet connection/use of skype phone etc without having to get the line connected? Also does anyone know if UK digital freeview boxes work over there?
