Is it true that Saudi Arabia is considering banning the letter "X" ?

I heard on the news this morning that Saudi Arabia is condsidering banning the letter X because of its resemblence to the cross. Is this true or did I hear that wrong?

I had not heard about this but I don't think it would be true. The Arabic languague uses it's own letters and alphabet, which are completely different from our alphabet. Since they don't use "X", why should they ban it?

Thank you for your response. I thought it sounded rather strange since I too thought they had a different alphabet than ours. What would be the point?
