am not a techno sort of person but really believes in the benefits of having a website or blog site to advertise or inform.... I want to create my own without having to spend lots of money to website developers and everything and at the same not having to risk on a very bad site. here are several things that hinders me: dont know how to design, what software to use if there are, what webhost to upload to. As for the webhost, they say that free webhost are not realiable coz without any notice your site may no longer be available, or that your site would have a lot of pop-up when accessed.
Another feature that i would like to know is website maintainance, how ist done? how often? does this also cover updating of the contents of the site?
mylot had been so helpful to me.. hope you guys can again help me with this..thanks to all those who had responded....

If you want a free blog site that is easy to set up and easy to update and upload stuff to, then go to www.blogger.com ...totally free and easy to use.

www.bloggers.com is the main and mostly used site to make ur dream come true.
its really easy and more user friendly, so my best suggestion is going on to bloggers site.
but creating ur website and maintaining that is not easy as u thing.
coz it needs some programming skills and more creative thinging 2 attract people.

the best site for a free website is www.invisionfree.com they have 24 hour tech support and it is very easy to set up. i have 2 boards with them myself.

well i don't have experience in creation of website....i am also searching for information related to this!!
this discussion will also help me to get info. about this topic!!
but i heard that creation of website is more tedious regarding maintainence,you also reguired some programing skills and knowledge about HTML atleast..
comparing to that blog will be more better!!

To create a business site, you can go get a free account at Blogger.com. They are easy to use. In fact, when I was a newbie (I still am), I managed to create my own blog. It was fun and still is. There is no maintenance at all.
I recommend that you do this if you want to start without cost.

You can try some of the free sites and programme that they offer to create a simple and quick website of your own, you cn try it on geocities.com and many more sites which offer good and simple tools to build a website.

Apart from those already mentioned, you may want to try livejournal.com or typepad.com or bravehost.com --- the latter's the most suitable for you, I think, since you can have a website for free and it can host a blog as a sub-feature

You have to learn thru web tutorials available in the internet. Use macromedia tools like Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks. You can download it from Adobe website. You are right free webhosting service is not good. When I used the Bravenet service they actually removed my website please take a look on http://lindapamintuan.bravehost.com and all you can see is "suspended website" better use multiply.com and friendster blogs. About updating the website, it depends if you created the website in DreamWeaver it is uploaded via FTP programs and if it is a blog there are user interface to manage sites that you make, its more easier to use coz you can just log-in to your hosting site and you can then modify the contents of your websites or blogs.

talking about free website, check the freewebs.com.. they have lots of templates you can use, and even change anytime you want without affecting your site contents. you can also upload your pictures, and videos for the visitors to see.. you can put contents in it just like you're typing in a Microsoft Word.. plus, add some site add-ons and widgets like the following:
shoutout -lets your visitors leave you some messages
guestbook -lets your visitors log in here
web albums- upload your images here
there's a lot more, you can put links to other websites you like.. and put site add ons from other sites like games.. it is all FREE [that is why it is called freewebs..]

I have a website on www.tripod.com.You can make it a blog site or personal and buisness website.
It is free and also has a website bulider software that walks you through the steps needed to set the whole thing up just like you want it.
No guess work and no fees what else could be better!!!

I use blogspot.com. I have my hemp, survival-list, kaer package, and other blogs with them. They are simple to use. I am so busy I can't always send something to my blogs, so they are not as active as I would like them to be. On one of my blogs I review survival items and write about self-sufficiency. I think it helps me think clearer.
