I live in South Africa and have done my entire life. I was wondering what view people from around the world have of my country? The reason i ask this is because of the fact that it is a very beautiful country but is let down by the crime rate and also the aids count. Im not sure on the information people are getting around the world but people i have spoken to have mixed opinions about South Africa. Some just think its one big aids farm while others really appreciate the beauty our country offers. Let me know what you think if you have been here or know people who live here etc...

I think South Africa has all the potential to be the major african country once it gets past all of it's cultural problems. I belive the past is still sort of heavy on people's minds, specially around the big cities. But it is indeed a beautiful country and rich by nature. It has everything for flourishing economically within the next 4 years, with the 2010 Football WC to be organized around there and all...it's up to you south african people whether to grab this chance to learn and improve or simply get stuck behind. One thing I don't like about South Africa though it the political scene...it seems it's always the least developing-friendly parties that come out on top somehow, or at least that's the impression I get.

yes well hopefully the world cup will make us take advantage of the opportunities that arise from it but i cant help but think that its not going to happen. You are right in that we do have the things that could make us a better and stronger country in the future but its going to take something special for that to happen. Could be a bit of a bumpy ride till then. Thanks for the comment

I am from south africa and speak online with allot of horse trainers overseas. Having horses and all. And I was quite suprised about their views. Most of them have only heard good things about us, like our wonderfull game reserves our beautifull landscapes and so on. They also know we are advanced in our technology and always ask how hot it get's here.

I don't think that most people know very much about South Africa. I do remember being surprised in school during geography lessons to learn that South Africa had a primarily white government and was out of sync with the population demograhics. I don't know very much at all about South Africa or if that is even true anymore. I do hope that the racial balance of those in power is more equal in recent years. Anyway my main reason for replying here was just to give you a compliment... you're such a cute boy! Best wishes to you! :)

Yeah i feel not many people do know much about South Africa. Although we do have top international Cricket and Rugby teams. Yes we did have a big apartheid time here in S.A. but that was long ago and now it seems things are the other way round. Our government is now black but there seems to be less racial problems. It will be interesting to see how things develope here in the future, hopefull for the better. And thank you very much for the compliment :) *blush*

I think of hot weather and Nelson Mandela. Its one of those places that I'd like to learn more about. I'd definately like to visit someday.

Yes the weather here is quite hot and Nelson Mandela is still alive. I dread to think whats going to happen once he passes away though. You should come visit S.A. sometime... its quite an experience
