I feel that the explanation and thoughts are much more clear in the book than in movie.
Movie only gives some information but has some visualization of thoughts.
But the books have their own benefits.
Harry Potter books are much better as they reveals the trueness of Harry Potter & have the complete story in it.
What do you say. Which one is better.

I have read 2 of the books and to be honest i would never have read them if it wasnt for the films. Its not the type of film i would normally watch but what i like about them is that they are so easy TO watch. Its a good fun family film. Something however that i do find staggering is a fact that i learnt in a quiz question last week. Apparently the new Harry Potter book is number one in the charts before it has even been published!!! This meaning that there have been more pre-orders of the book than actual sales of any other book. Amazing but all credit to J.K.Rowling!!
This is also my first post :) Am looking forward to becoming a valuable member of the MyLot commnuity!!

Yes the all credit goes to J.K.Rowling.
Its J.K.Rowling's amazing thoughts that brought us a wonderful story of Harry Potter.
And be a member of mylot, best of luck for your beginning.

i think the is more complete and really gives details to everything that's happening in the story... the movie, on the other hand, gives us a visual interpretation of the book and has enhanced it with visual effects and computer animations... ideally, you read the book first to get the whole story then watch the movie to visually see your imaginations or interpretations of the book...

The books are soo much better than the movies. I enjoy the movies very much, but they can not fit a lot of details into them because they would be way too long. The books are very in depth and the writing is perfection.

i will go with the book than movie.....there are few reasons below....
1. movies curtails down the story according to its needs and sometimes change the context completely missing out of some interesting parts and details...
2. books are more detailed and give an exact impression of the scene while movies again are limited by the viewers understanding...you can not get everything from a movie in one instant but a book can give views of one hundred viewers..
3. books give you a flexibility of imagination..you can imagine a scene in your mind to your perfection...it is like having a perfect movie with world's best actors

I believe the books have somethings that the movies don't have in them. In harry potter's case books have been the source from where the movie originated and infact movies have been different from the books. I would say originals are the best and in this case books are the original ones. However even if a book is written inspired from a movie, which is highly unlikely, then also it'll be difficult to resemble the original completely. So a thing can never be as good as the original one.

I feel the same way. I've read all the six books and they are better than the first four films they've shown... There are lots of beautiful scenes in the books that they weren't successfully included in the movies.

The book is way too better. Even the movie having all the cinematographic effects that try to transform the story into a high thriller, nothing can be compared with the imaginary effects of your mind that makes the book more coherent than the film. I will never feel in the movie the same that I felt the first time I read HP, a long time ago.

When it comes to Harry Potter, it makes sense to first read the book and then watch the movie. Thats what I do anyway. Reading the book provides you will all those extras which you will definetely not find in the movie. However the movie brings the characters and the scenes alive. you can see in the movie what you visualise when reading the book. Im a big Harry Potter fan and am eagerly awaiting the final installment of the book as well as the remaining movies.

i read the book first, then watched the movie..n since u imagine it your way when u scroll down the pages of the book, u obviously are left slightly "disappointed", to say, when u watch the movie..the way director imagined it to be...

The movie is just a entertainment which tries to squeeze the books contents into a 2hr film.....The visuals of the movie the way the characters are portrayed are actually the imaginations of the movie director and the art director....But the book gives us a lot of room for imagination...our imagination...certainly the book is better that way....also if someone saw the movie b4 reading the book their imagination becomes limited and the characters they imagine while reading the book will be those characters they had seen on the film(Daniell Radcliff as Harry,Rupert Grint as Ron etc.)

I havent read the book but I like the movies so much! But poeple who read the book say that the book is still better than the movies. I guess that's really the case. Coz you can be every detailed in the book and all of us have different imaginations and it cant be satisfied with just one imagination brought to life by a director.

I love both. I have read all the books and eagerly await each new movie. Right now I am eagerly awaiting the final(?) book to be written. The books do go more in depth and you see more of the character, than the movie, but seeing the movie adds to the enjoyment of the book. It is difficult to say which is better, so I shalln't.

I always thought that the books were better than movies. Although, the movie are good in their own right; they do tend to leave out some crucial things that add to the story line. Or else they twist things around.
So yeah, I may love the movies...but I totally prefer the books more.
