Dating Online, What do you expect?

It occured to me when i was browsing through a dating website.What is that makes us think that it's worth a try? Is it because of the curiosity that somebody somewhere may share the same thoughts and be interested in you though they haven't seen/met you even once? Assuming, it does kindle a special feeling in you for somebody, what are your expectations of that somebody? Would you expect them to be completely honest, natural and concious? I may be at my best on chat or any other mode of indirect communication but what if i am not really what you think i am.
