Motocross _ Dirt Bikes vs. ATVs

My son races ATV motocross and rides a dirt bike for fun. He likes both, but prefers the quad (also known as ATV or four-wheeler) on motocross tracks. However, it's hard to get track time because the dirt bikes don't want quads on the tracks, and, at least for now, they out number us, so they usually get what they want, which means they can practice every day, and we get one day a month track time. If you ride dirt bikes, why don't you like riding with quads?
