Thats one of my favorites too. He also did another version of it dedicated to the 9/11 disaster which was pretty good too.

Garth Brooks has never fallen short for me in any song of any kind. But "The River" has been my favorite song of all time since I was about nine years old, and will probably stay my favorite song for the rest of my life.

Garth Brooks is just awesome with any song he's put out there, IMO. I mean, there are some that I didn't fully care for and tend to skip over on the discs, but it's a hard choice to pick which would be my favorite. I guess it'd really depend on my mood at the time. I've always preferred the live versions of his songs, and I'd have to say that the one I've found myself listening to the most is "Thunder Rolls" or "Friends in Low Places". Otherwise, it'd be "Standing Outside the Fire" for it's meaning and the hidden strength behind it. Seriously, how many people do you know that just let life pass them by, because they're afraid to take risks?
