I have not done my taxes as of yet as I am still waiting for all my forms to come in. I do not have everything that I need right now to file but when I do I usually do it by the old fashioned way with pen and paper. Accountants and agencies charge too much and I found tax software to not be very accurate. I will check that website out that you mentioned as I could change my mind.

Wow pen and paper! I remember back in the day when all returns had to be done that way. I also remember the first year my CPA firm got a tax program and there were so many errors in it. It was faster, easier and more accurate to do it by hand. But things do change. Programs are getting better. It really depends on the complexity of your return and the amount of time you want to spend on it.
You can say that accountants and agencies charge too much, but compared to what? Just to get someone to come out to my house to look at anything that may need to be repaired (light, toilet, sprinkler, etc.) costs $55. They haven't even done anything yet! Oh and what about car repairs! Sometimes I think accountants don't charge enough - certainly not the good ones.

I am waiting on a w-2 .
I guess you could say I go to a professional, me! I am a tax counsler for AARP.
If this sounds like something you might want to do, or you want help for doing your taxes, call 1-888-AARPNOW or go to aarp.org/taxaide to find a site near you!

I'm a CPA who specializes in taxes. I did volunteer work for a few years when I stopped public accounting to take care of my child. Now it's time for me to work for myself again.
As for joining the AARP, I'm not 50 yet! It is a good program for some and it's great that you are a counselor there. I hope you enjoy the work.

A better question is, "Have you thought about doing your taxes yet?"
No, I haven't done mine. I usually do them using turbo tax for my personal taxes. The business taxes are done with a computer program as well, though I sometimes have those done for me.

TurboTax does a fairly good job, but not for business returns. Then again, you didn't say you were doing your business taxes with TurboTax, which is good. Depending on how your business is organized, the business return can be quite complex and many errors are in the form of elections not made or not timely made. Many people are unaware that you are required to make an election in order to take advantage of certain deductions (such as Section 179, recurring items, etc.), and then when the IRS later denies the deduction and then tacks on interest and penalties to the additional taxes they assess it can be quite upsetting.

I have not done my taxes yet as I am still waiting for our W2 forms to come in. I have gone to a professional in the past, but prepared our taxes myself last year using a program. And then I filed online and we got our refund back within a couple of weeks.
