The existence of God

There are those who believe that God is there because they grew up to believe so. They blindly and aimlessly follow what their parents say, because their grandparents said it to their parents.
It's my belief that those who do so box out their potential to understand reality. So many Americans also falsely claim that they are christian in order to fit in. If everybody would just give up these beliefs, then they would have no reason to do so and try to fit in naturally.
With so many contradictions and lies that the Church has poured out for so many years, how can people continue to believe?
For example, how is it that you should not kill when fighting over God has spilled more blood than any other war, and persecution goes to those who will not believe?
What if it were the ones who did believe who were persecuted? Maybe we'd have a better society.

Why do you believe in god?
I never said anything about it being superstitious to believe.

i think we'd have a better society if everyone of us are concern of ourselves and God.
concern that to make world a better place to live, me must find a compromise between different beliefs.
