Turn On "Notify" If You Want To Know When A Friend Writes Articles

I have 37 friends on mylot and I wondered why none of them were posting articles. I get notified by mylot when a friend starts a discussion but I only get about 3-4 a day. I clicked on "friends" and found that when I add a friend the "notify" is turned off. I had to go and manually turn it on so I will get notified. Now I will be able to know when all my friends are starting a new discussion and I will try to comment on all of them.

Once in awhile there is a glitch, also. I will go in and a lot of my notifies have been switched to off. I did not do it. This happened a lot for awhile, now it seems to be staying, for the most part, the way I left them. If you are able to respond to EVERY discussion started by all your friends, and if they are at all active, you will really have your hands full. I try to make it to at least one discussion per friend daily, but I have some that are inactive, that just posted once or twice, and then they requested me as a friend, and then they disappeared. You know that you can find out from their profiles when they logged in last?

Yes! It took me quite awhile to realize this myself. In fact, for my first few days or so here I didn't even know that you could get email notifications about new topics tha your Mylot friends had posted. Now I try to go through daily and turn any new friends notification statues to 'on' so that I will get the maximum amount of emails possible. I still don't think that some of the emails are getting through to me, though. But at least I'm getting quite a few emails. It's a much, much quicker way to find topics of interest here on Mylot! ^_^ I also like it in that if the site is runinng slowly, I can still read through my friend's topics in email and start picking out things to say and topics to reply to! ^_^

I usually leave mine on all the time, so far I have not gotten too bogged down by discussions being started by my friends.

Oh I know what you mean. You have to check to make sure it is on if you want them to notify you of it. Sometimes though it can be irritating since I will get a lot from some and none from others. Just some seem to start a lot of discussions more so then others. That's one reason I look to see before I approve a friend if they start discussions I'm likely to respond to, I mean majority not just one or two. It can make a difference.

I check my friend list every day to be sure that all of them are turned to the "on" setting. I, too, have found that sometimes mylot will glitch and turn my friend notification off for a few people. Since that's how I find out if my friends have posted new topics, I have to be diligent about making sure it's working properly.

I used to have mine on but then I was getting so many emails that my friends had started another discussion, I decided to turn mine off. Now I just start each day by going to the discussions my friends have started. This keeps my email box clear of all those emails too.
