if you love learning culture i will recommend to you THE MEMOIRS OF GEISHA this movie showed hoe woman in japan strugle in a hard life - its worthy watching it -

i love asian movies so im gonna recommend some... Infernal Affairs (HK), The King and the Clown (Korea), Love Me Not (Korea), Curse of the Golden Flower (China), The Host (Korea). :) there are a lot but those ar the ones at the to of my head right now~

I know a lot of good movies, but they might not be up to your standards. lol
80s: The Lost Boys, Mystic Pizza, Pump Up the Volume
90s: Hackers, Foxfire, Fried Green Tomatoes, Bye Bye Love, Empire Records
General: Girl Interrupted, Resident Evil, Serenity, Nightmare on Elm Street (corny horror), The Returner
There's probably a lot more I could list, but those are the ones popping in my head right now.
Best thing I would do is look them up on a search engine, read the summaries, and decide from there if it's the kind of movie you would like. :)
