So, after 18 years a few tries here and there( the longest was for 9 months, back in 1993, when my son was 8 months old, he's now 14 yrs old), i have come o terms with myself and decide to try quitting smoking for real.
Why do i say for real?Well, this time i am not doing it just 'cold turkey" i got some "help': i went to see a "healer/hypnotist" recommended by some friends.1 hour was all it took, between driving to this guy's office and the 'session"that right now has chamged my life.
I was told to smoke last before i saw him one and half hr before. That was This past Saturday (1/13) 11 am. I have not smoked ever since.I've eaten tons, i have drank my beers, i have watched my football,i have driven, i have shopped, i have been waiting for my children, picking them up from practices, parties. I have thought about the cigarretes ALL THE TIME! (I'm addicted and i can be under a healing power a spell, whatever it is, but i am stiil an addict,it's a 'social addiction" but it's a kind of addiction) , but i have not given in to 'the urge", that one moment when we melt and we say:"screw it! i like smoking, i miss it, i will have a cigarrete" i have been able to stay away from that. Why did i quit?Number one obvious reason, health concerns, we all know it can be bad, but we do it anyways, also, my kids are growing, my son HATES the fact i smoke, sabotages my cigarretes every chance he has, my wife quit 4 years ago But i did feel like it's time: bad cold, cough hanging, awful cough, i'm playing soccer again, so it was just the ideal time( so it felt like it!).I had scheduled the appointment for Monday because it was a Holiday, i even antecipated for Saturday, 2 days before so i'd not buy another pack of cigarretes (1 pack usually was good for 2 days).
So,today, going back to work was the real test, stress packed job, i even managed to step out during lunch time, walk around the block and back in the office without any issues, alos getting out of the subways, the hand even went into the pocket i guess, but there was no cigarretes and even better: no urge to say"screw it, i like it, i miss it, i'm buying a pack!"
So far so good, very likely i'm sharing this spot here to maybe put myself under 'watchful eyes" so i keep being good and staying away.
Feeling pretty good right now...4 days smoke free, after 18 years smoking...it feels GOOD!
Later!
we'll be in touch!

Thats nice to hear, im a smoker too. I've been smoking for 15 tears now and i'm looking forward to quit smoking someday. For now though the urge to smoke is still strong to resist. If you'll impart some moves you made on how you quit it would be a great help. Good Luck i hope smoking for you will be a thing of the past, a bad dream that you have woke up from.
