India? or Philippines? - Call Center Destination

Which is which?...More and more americans prefers having Filipino reps receiving their call ( for many reasons: Filipinos speak well,care about their issues, try to resolved all of their concern in the most professional way)-On the other half Indians are in High in technical Expertise but low in Communication Skills. So which do you think is the better.India? or Philippines?

Filipino agents are the best in the call center business. I don't wanna be rude but some Indian agents, who acclaimed to be good in technical, are stupid. Used to work for a call center. The Indians gets the first call so they can help the Americans with their PC problems, then they have to transfer their calls to us, Filpino agents, to sell them coupons. Here's the thing, sometimes, they transfer their calls to us without helping them first or transferring themselves. Its very funny actually. Both agents saying their opening lines. I have receieved a lot of irrate customers being transferred abruptly, so what I do is to help them with their computers, lucky me I'm a computer science graduate, then I make sales. I even did an upsell a couple of times.

yeah your right. Philippines is the best fo BPO's because filipinos are more patient to their clients even if they are shouted they still help their cliens problem.And even filipino's are also great in terms of technical.

Philppines are famous for their soft spoken and hospitality. Indians are famous for their rudness and outspoken. Indian get into arguments much early as compared to Philippines may be because the type of life we have in India and they have in Philippines. If you see on roads in India if small thing like someone blown a horn to you happens the person comes out and starts fighting and abusing but in Philippines first thing Horn is not blown at all untill and unless there is a mistake and even if some big accident also happens even an illetarate person their doesnt abuses each other they stay calm and wait for police and insurance to arrive and they just walk away after that. This is just a small example how quickly Indians get panic. People are not only bothered about technical skills but also the wya they are treated. People like Indian minds in Philippines will be my choice for a Call Center destination.

Philippines, one factor that requires call center business is youre communication skills, and as you have said filipino's has it's most proffessional communication skills. Plus Filipino's has beter working skills than indians. Filipino people are percevering and hardworking, creative in their own ways, very good in english plus they can work extended hours as long as the company requires it.Therefore philippines is the best Call center destination, and it's actually happening now, there are already a lot of established call center company here in the philippines.

I think it is wrong to say Indians are less hardworking than Filipinos or that they are less creative in some ways. Im sure they can be as hardworking and creative and flexible like everyone else. I think the reason that Philippines can be better call center destination is because Filipos have better communication skills. Their English is far more fluent, less accent in it and very much similar to American english which is where most outsourcing clients are. That is what i noticed anyway.

I think American English is for Filipinos while British English is for Indians. Last year, I saw a documentary on CNN and it featured the life of a call center agent in India. Most of their trainings are basically more on British accent. Anyway, still, love your own! The Philippines of course is the best call center destination.

I am a Filipino and I've worked for a call center before. I understand how some Americans don't seem to like to talk to Indians in terms of accents. Well, there is a communication barrier and culture barrier here. I'm not sure if Indians study English since their primary years in school. Unlike here in the Philippines, we are already learning simple sentences while we're still kids. After all, due to the movies we see, shows we watch and other things we do, we are more influenced by the Americans compared to Indians. We get learn to adapt to their culture and exude this charm because due to hospitality, Filipinos are naturally customer-oriented at heart. On a positive note, Indians are real techie people. That is something I'm really impressed about them. I would say that they end up messing a call sometimes because of communication skills. The vocabulary might be limited so it affects how they try to articulate their words so as to express their thought effectively. So all in all, both race have a strong points in different category.

I have been in a call center for a month (just training) then found out I have medical issues but still I would say...Filipinos are good or should I say better in communicating with clients abroad. They speak better english and very hospitable. They attend to their customers really well.

For my experience. My customers would tell me that Filipinos have a good command of english and the accent is fine. To be fair with the Indians, they are very technical.

Ive read somewhere before that there are more incidence from call center agents from India about customer information theft and the like. Stealing money based on those information like credit card and stuff. But india indeed is starting to be known on their growing IT progress. But really, what is call centers all about? Is it more on technical support or plain customer service? If companies can get both expertise in Filipino, why not here rather than somewhere when u can only get one of each.

Filipinos are the best representatives. They know how to build rapport and make the customers feel that they are really important! KUDOS to all Filipino call center agents out there!

i do think filipinos are good at this...we usually apply the patience that we've learned from the very beginning...there are times that we are already pissed off but we know how to say it with courtesy...courtesy is the thing that some of the customers are looking for and sympathy...
