Investing on gold..is it your thing?

For years,I've been thinking of an investment where there's only a low risk of loss and not time consuming.I thought of the stock market,buying lots-but a good friend advised that I should invest on something I like or enjoy having. That's how I got into investing on gold.For I am so fond of jewelry-although I rarely wear them.I later realized it was the perfect choice because gold does not deppreciate.In a span of a few months,its value increases.Also,in emergeny cases,I can easily have it pawned for cash.It's really a worthwhile investment I would like to pass on to my kids.What do you think?Would it also be your kind of investment?
