Wound Glue

So, I ripped part of my toe off of my foot the other day (dont ask) and because of the bleeding, I had to go to the ER and the doctor glued it back together! Now, Id heard of this before but I thought it was used in combination with stitches. I think that may have been the case for me because of the location of my injury. Basically it ripped in the crease that attaches your toe to your foot. Its still bleeding and from what i can see, it doesnt look like its gonna heal before the glue comes off. What do you guys think? Any bad or good experiences with wound glue?
