In a website I read every year approximately 11 million children die and more than half of them because of hunger related causes! These are only because of undrnourishment, they consume less than the minimum amount of calories. Pregnant women, mothers who breastfeed infants and children are among the the most at risk.
Chronic hunger affects more than 800 million people in the world.More people die from causes related chronic hunger than to famine! If you want more details you can visit at http://www.freedomfromhunger.org/info/#fao

i am aware of this. have seen this through television shows. but i still believe that the ones to be blamed are the parents. if only parents can practice family planning, then, they won't be adding up children into this world especially when they are aware that they cannot really provide financial support to them. parents should be responsible enough before bringing a child to earth. in that sense, starving children will lessen in this earth.

They say it's a common occurance in the third world countries. But you will come across with hunger deaths in the so called "developing"countries like India also. Kalahandi district in orissa is one of many such ill fated places where after half a century of independence.women, children and old people are kied due to malnutrition.A pathetic situation indeed.
