I think 3 months is still a bit young. You can start to give him solid food by 4 months, specially if you can see that milk isn't enough for him already. You can feed him cerelac the most basic one, wheat or rice, no variations like wheat banana or wheat apple or stuff like that, you can also give him apple sauce (gerber or nestle) or you can give him ahm, I see you're from the Philippines so you will understand, lugaw, soupy and overcooked, I mean with the rice so soft and you don't need to chew just swallow, if you get my drift. Then by six months you can start with the variations of cerelac and gerber/nestle infant foods, and mashed potatoes from 'nilaga'. I fed mine the way I told you. I started feeding both of my children when they were 4 months old, and they both are growing up to be healthy children. =)

oh i forgot do not forget to continue feeding him his milk and the lugaw, no additions like salt or sugar, specially oil, just plain lugaw. So do not buy lugaw from the nearby carinderia, you gotta boil it yourself if you want to feed him that. Feeding your child as everyone said really depends first on your child then on you. As I said, if your baby shows discontentment in feeding with milk only then you should start giving him solid food. Observation is key, observe your child if he isn't satisfied with milk no more, then give him solids. well, hope that helps =)

We introduced Farex to our daughters diet at 2 months. She was so hungry all the time, when we introduced that, she started to sleep through the night! She was so full. On the tins is says "8 Months" as the recommended age to introduce the food, we ignored that :P we would give her some 1 or 2 months earlier then the tin suggested. Its down to you and your child.

My babies pediatrician told me not to give anything...not even rice cereal or stage 1 baby food until my child was 10 or 11 months old. I ignored that. That is a bit rediculous to me.

Take it easy mom, s/he's still too young for that. I feed my baby when he stepped at 4 months. The first baby food I gave was cerelac. Then when he reached 6 motnhs which he is right now, I'm feeding him mashed potatoes, "lugaw" - cooked rice with a lot of water, boiled egg, but the yellow part only. I will still yet to give him mashed carrot. You can check out babycenter.com for a lot of information on babies. Is s/he your first born?

I started giving my baby solids when she was almost 6 months old. According to her pedia, 6 months is the rigth age to introduce solids to infants because their reproductive system is more mature at this time so they can process their food better and can help in preventing food allergies that may develop if solids are inroduce early.

With my eldest, I started giving him solids at 6 months (based on WHO's recommendation). But with my youngest, since she was already showing signs of readiness, I started giving her solids at 4 months. Signs of readiness include, when you put a spoon at her mouth she opens it eagerly to take in the food; she looks at your food with gusto hehe; milk seems not enough for her anymore.

I have a post similar to this one. My son started eating very very very runny rice cereal through a bottle at 11 days old. I started him on veggies at 2 1/2 months and then fruits at around 4 months old. When introducing new foods though, I recommend veggies first so that he doesn't get a taste of the sweetness of the fruits and then doesn't want veggies. Also, I've been told that you only want to introduce one food a week so that if your baby has any type of food allergies, you will know by what you feed him. Good luck and Good post!

I would definitely wait until your baby is 5-6 months old. My first child started on solids at 6 months and my second who was a bigger baby started at 5 months.

My first child...I started feeding her solids at 4months old, then on my 2nd child..5 1/2 months, nowadays Pediatrician would recommend starting at 6mos to prevent food allergies...but really, its gonna be your on discretion, I could have started my 2nd baby at 4mos because I know she's ready but he's daddy doesnt want to :p

i fed my baby solids when he turned 6 months. i think that's the best time to prevent any allergic reactions from food. and when you're about to give him his 1st solid food, don't forget your camera to document another milestone of your baby. =)

hey there! dani tasted her first solid food when she was five months old. ideally you should start feeding your baby solids at six months but my baby is already showing signs of readiness for solids. below is a link that discusses when to introduce solid foods to your baby. http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/baby/babyfeeding/113.html hope this helps! :)

I have three adult children now. I weaned them all at different ages slthough it was recommended at the time to wait until 6 months. My eldest son was always hungry and screaming for food. We gave in and gave him a little cereal at 2 months result contented baby. My husband at the time concluded that even with cattle their needs are all individual and there is no set rule. He was a farmer. I must say the other two didnt seem to require the same and they were happy until six months. My eldest hungry baby in adulthood is the thinist so I dont know were that leaves all the theories.

www.gerber.com is an awesome place to go for advice on feeding solids. If you start solids too early you can cause serious problems. Starting giving my son solids at about 4 months....but I thinned them out with formula...till he was better at taking food from a spoon then I gradually backed off thinning stuff out. Also you can talk to you baby;s pediatrician.

I would have to ask you if the baby was acting hungry all the time. I know our son was a little piggy. My mom said I was the same way to. We started out with instant potatoes and cheerios. He has never lost his love for these things.

At two months old I started my daughter on cereal. It was very watery just so she could get used to the feel of a spoon. About three months old I started giving her fruits stage 1 from gerber. She loved it. It gave her something more than just milk.

Solid food should NEVER be started earlier than 4 months, and it's not recommended until around 6 months.

6 months is the recommended age for starting solid foods. although some doctors will say it's ok from 4 months on. some babies do need for food than others and if your baby isn't getting filled up on milk then starting solids is a good idea. remember to make it watery at first and only try one food type per week so you can find out if they have any allergies. if they do ok on the first one with no side effects try another.

If your family has a history of allergies (asthma, food allergies, etc.) it is not recommended to give your baby solid food until he is 6 months. But if there are no histories of allergy, 4 months is a good age to start. But take your cue from your baby. Sometimes, a 4 month old may not be ready yet, so it is better to wait. I started my son on cerelac rice ceral at 6 months (we have a history of allergies). I placed him in his car seat so feeding time was a breeze. Let me know if you'd like to know more about my success stories with my son. He is now 13 months old and eating table food =)
